Pay-per-place control solution in Nice, France
This Urbiotica success story aimed to improve mobility in Nice by implementing dynamic pricing and a smart parking system that saves drivers' time in finding parking and encourages vehicle turnover.
The municipal administration of Nice was faced with a critical mobility situation that generated serious management problems, traffic congestion and pollution, directly affecting the quality of life of its citizens.
The lack of infrastructure and the high demand for parking in the French city center caused constant saturation, negatively impacting both residents and visitors. The project aimed to reduce the flow of vehicles into the center and promote the use of alternative transportation, such as bicycles and public transport.
This success story in France involved deploying 4,500 Urbiotica U-Spot sensors and 570 kiosks, installed to detect in real time the occupancy of parking spaces to which more than 550,000 people already have access.

Our solution provides real-time data on parking availability and rates, in addition to offering information on transportation alternatives, such as public transportation, bicycle and car sharing. The success of this Urbiotica project is based on improving the user experience and stimulating local commerce by providing details about the destination area, including entertainment activities, commercial promotions (hotels, restaurants, tourist spots, etc.) and weather.
This system allows the city administration to apply dynamic pricing based on parking availability, traffic and even pollution indices in real time. Adjusting rates influences traffic density, avoiding saturation and considerably reducing pollution in the city. Thanks to Urbiotica, users can now access all this information via the internet, smartphones and roadside panels, making it much easier to make decisions about the best way to get around Nice.
