The City of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, suburb of Barcelona, has selected Urbiotica as a provider for the traffic monitoring system deployed at the Carrer del Pla area in the framework of its macro Smart City project called “Urban Lab Sant Feliu”. The Urban Lab Sant Feliu project aims to ease the validation and prototyping of new urban services, either directed to the citizens or to the services’ managers.
The Urban Lab Sant Feliu project aims to ease the validation and prototyping of new urban services, either directed to the citizens or to the services’ managers. With up to 10.000 vehicles a day, Carrer del Pla is one of the most transited areas of the city and offers an ideal context for the deployment of the system.
Urbiotica’ urban traffic monitoring system gives the following information lane per lane and globally:
- Vehicle volume
- Road Occupancy
- Classification of vehicles per speed and size
- Average speed
- Average size per vehicle category
- Average time between vehicles
- Traffic density
This information is typically used by the city to determine if the urban mobility plan should be adjusted with actions such as widening lanes, deviations or other alternatives.
Urbiotica’ U-Admin platform is integrated with the Sentilo open platforms of both Sant Feliu city and Barcelona province, to allow both public and private consultation.
What is Urban Lab?
The Urban Lab Sant Feliu project consists of test spaces and testing dynamics that aim to facilitate the prototyping and validation of Smart City ideas, projects and urban innovations, whether aimed to citizens or service managers. This open city innovation application also seeks to generate public-private alliances and collaborations.
