Control of reserved spaces for people with reduced mobility in San Sebastian.

The installation of 350 M2M U-Spot sensors begins in San Sebastian for the management of spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM). The objective of the project deployed in San Sebastian is to improve respect in the use of parking spaces reserved for PRM users and to inform these users of available spaces near their location.

Parking spaces for PRM are frequently occupied by unauthorized drivers, causing significant inconvenience in the daily lives of these users. With the new solution, the installed sensor will detect the presence of unauthorized vehicles and automatic alerts will be sent to the attendants, allowing a real-time and much more efficient control over the status of the parking spaces, being able to intervene directly and immediately.

On the other hand, the data captured by the system will also be used to guide PRM drivers to available parking spaces. Through the app, they will be able to know the occupancy of the spaces at any given moment and, therefore, where to go to park. As a result, the driver does not have to drive around looking for a space to park his vehicle, since he knows where he will find a free space and will go directly there, reducing pollution from unnecessary turns and improving his parking experience.

The project developed in San Sebastian is a win-win for the Public Administration as well as for the authorized users. More and more cities are seeing digitalization as a clear benefit for the improvement of space and parking management.
