Parking guidance to manage the traffic in the paid parking zones in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
To lower urban traffic caused by the search for parking in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to a minimum
The City Hall of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria wanted to combat traffic in the city to lower pollution and improve citizens’ quality of life. The island witnesses an influx of people, and therefore increased traffic, especially in the summer months. The goal of this project was to guide drivers directly to the free parking spots to prevent them from having to drive around unnecessarily to find parking.
The project in Las Palmas entailed installing 3,000 U-Spot sensors to combat traffic.

Thanks to the installation of the 3,000 U-Spot sensors, users’ accessibility was improved by informing them about available parking spots in real time. Drivers head directly to the areas where parking is available, guided by the installation of a total of 21 dynamic message signs.
Furthermore, the system was integrated with the LPA Park app, so citizens can also check parking availability on their mobile phones.
Thanks to this project, citizens now have real-time information on the availability of parking 24 hours a day, which drastically lowers the amount of time drivers need to park.
