The city of Salamanca faced a significant challenge in the management of urban parking, especially in the municipalities of Ciudad Rodrigo and Peñaranda de Bracamonte.
The shortage of parking spaces and the vehicular congestion derived from the search for free spaces generated circulation problems, increasing travel time and negatively affecting the quality of life of residents.
To address this challenge, the City Council worked with Telefónica, which in turn chose Urbiotica, to implement an innovative solution based on smart sensors.
Se instaló el sistema de sensores U-Spot M2M, un conjunto de sensores de detección plaza a plaza que permite monitorizar en tiempo real la ocupación de espacios de aparcamiento en ambas localidades. Estos datos se integraron en la plataforma centralizada Thinking Cities de Telefónica, proporcionando a los conductores información actualizada a través de paneles informativos estratégicamente ubicados en la ciudad. Esta solución guía a los conductores hacia las áreas con plazas disponibles, optimizando el uso de los espacios y reduciendo la congestión.
