Amazon Fulfillment Center in Barcelona incorporates an Urbiotica smart system to optimize staff access
Amazon becomes a new Urbiotica success story in smart mobility solutions, after improving the access of its workforce to its new logistics center in Catalonia.
The new Amazon Fulfillment Center, located next to Barcelona airport in El Prat de Llobregat, will provide its employees with ample parking areas. With a forecast of 1,500 permanent jobs in the next 3 years, the logistics complex had as a priority to facilitate the daily commuting of its employees and, therefore, saw the need to count again with an intelligent parking guidance system of Urbiotica already in its construction phase.
This project marks the second collaboration between Amazon and Urbiotica, following the installation carried out in 2016 at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in San Fernando de Henares.
Faster and more convenient access thanks to U-Flow technology
The implementation of 7 two-way U-Flow Aforo sensors and 2 variable signage panels has been sufficient to guide employees to free parking spaces.
In the project carried out at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Barcelona, 7 two-way U-Flow Aforo sensors were deployed at the entrances to the site in order to accurately count the entrances and exits of employees’ vehicles. This allows to know in real time the occupancy of the available spaces, information that is reflected in the 2 variable signage panels installed in strategic locations of the complex.
Both devices, working together, make it much easier to guide workers to available spaces just before they enter the site. Even before opening, internal mobility has been optimized, search times reduced and the staff experience improved with smoother access.
