Control of the Free Limited Time reserved parking spaces in Castellbisbal to improve the control and availability of parking.
Improve respect for established regulations and the availability of parking in the downtown area.
The inhabitants of the small town of Castellbisbal, with a surface area of 32 km² and a population of more than 12,000 inhabitants, found it difficult to park in the downtown area.
The few existing parking spaces were occupied by cars parked for long periods of time.
The objective of the project we deployed in Castellbisbal was to optimize control costs, increase vehicle turnover in the area, reduce parking search time and increase citizen satisfaction.
The Castellbisbal project has deployed a total of 67 sensors to monitor plazas in the downtown area.
Sixty-seven U-Spot sensors were installed, which helped optimize monitoring of the parking since they show the status of the spots and the amount of time remaining in real time. Plus, automatic alerts are created when an overtime violation is detected.
The data captured are sent to users in real time, improving accessibility. By knowing the status of the parking spots, citizens are more likely to travel to the center knowing that they’ll find parking there.
Likewise, pollution is lowered and the shopping area is revitalized. Guiding drivers to free spots lowers the pollution generated by 30%. Furthermore, the increase in vehicle rotation means more visitors to the retailers in the center.
- Increased parking lot turnover and occupancy
- Increased guard productivity.
Thanks to automatic alerts, vehicle-by-vehicle control is avoided and violations are dealt with directly. - Reduction of traffic caused by the search for parking
- Stimulation of local commerce
- Improves environmental quality
