Las Palmas de Gran Canaria optimizes urban mobility with intelligent parking technology
The challenge was to minimize the urban traffic caused by the search for parking in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The city faced problems of congestion and lack of efficiency in the management of parking spaces, which hindered urban mobility and increased the carbon footprint.
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria sought to combat traffic to reduce pollution and improve the quality of life of citizens.
During the summer months, the influx of people increased considerably, which increased traffic.
The aim of this project was to guide drivers directly to free parking spaces, avoiding unnecessary turns in search of a parking spot, and thus improving parking efficiency and reducing road congestion.
Implemented an autonomous magnetic sensor system in 3488 parking spaces, later expanded to 3000 additional spaces with U-Spot NB- technology.IoT.
La información en tiempo real se muestra en paneles digitales y en la app LPA-Park.
The installation of the 3.000 U-Spot sensors has significantly improved user accessibility by providing real-time information on the availability of free spaces. Drivers can head directly to areas with availability thanks to the installation of a total of 21 variable message panels.
Additionally, Urbiotica’s system has seamlessly integrated with the LPA Park application, allowing citizens to check parking availability from the City Council’s app on their mobile phones.
This deployment provides citizens with real-time information on parking availability 24 hours a day, significantly reducing the time drivers spend searching for a parking spot.
