Istanbul is the most populous city in Europe (around 17M inhabitants), which puts without doubts mobility as a central issue of the megalopolis. The constant growth of the population goes together with an increase of private vehicles and traffic congestions, which implies a necessary regulation of parking within the central districts of the city.
This is why Urbiotica is currently implementing its smart parking sensing system to gather real time information about parking use in order to manage in a more efficient way parking in the most transited areas of the urbanization.
Urbiotica’ solution for regulated parking consists in obtaining accurate information about the use and presence of vehicles in each parking spot of the city to carry out an efficient control of the respect of the rules established by the municipality. On the other hand, the information of parking occupation can be aggregated per zone in order to share availability with the citizens to help them find parking faster.
Urbiotica’ solution, carried by ERBEN, our partner in Turkey, has been chosen by IsPark, Istanbul’ parking operator, after an initial phase of trials of the various technologies available on the market. Its reliability, accuracy and flexibility in deployment has convinced the local authority to go on with a 2nd operational phase, through the installation of 100 parking sensors U-Spot in the Fevzipaşa Caddesiarea, where an important part of the city traffic is concentrated due to its commercial and central aspects.
